RESUMO

Conventional molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) perform their functions principally depended on their three dimensional (3D) imprinted cavities (recognition sites) of templates. Here, retaining the function of recognition sites resulted from the imprinting of template molecules, the role of functional monomers is explored and expanded. Briefly, a class of dual-functional renin imprinted poly(methyldopa) (RMIP) is prepared, consisting of a drug-type function monomer (methyldopa, clinical high blood pressure drug) and a corresponding disease biomarker (renin, biomarker for high blood pressure disease). To boost target-to-receptor binding ratio and sensitivity, the microstructure of recognition sites is beforehand calculated and designed by Density Functional Theory calculations, and the whole interfacial structure, property and thickness of RMIP film is regulated by adjusting the polymerization techniques. The dual-functional applications of RMIP for biomarker detection and disease therapy in vivo is explored. Such RMIP-based biosensors achieves highly sensitive biomarker detection, where the LODs reaches down to 1.31 × 10-6 and 1.26 × 10-6 ng mL-1 for electrochemical and chemical polymers, respectively, and the application for disease therapy in vivo has been verified where displays the obviously decreased blood pressure values of mice. No acute and long-term toxicity is found from the pathological slices, declaring the promising clinical application potential of such engineered RMIP nanostructure.

Background: While hemangiomas are the most commonly occurring benign vascular tumors, their occurrence in the gastrointestinal system is rare. This case report presents a unique instance of small intestinal hemangioma in a pediatric patient. Case description: A 21-month-old girl was admitted to the hospital with a history of "recurrent blood in the stool for one year and anemia for five months." Upon evaluation at our facility, abdominal color ultrasound and enhanced CT scans revealed a protruding mass in the wall of the small intestine, leading to a preliminary diagnosis of small intestinal hemangioma. Subsequent single-site umbilical laparoscopic exploration identified a tumor measuring approximately 6cm×2.5cm×1.2cm on the jejunum wall. Consequently, segmental resection of the intestine was performed, and the postoperative pathological diagnosis confirmed cavernous hemangioma. Conclusion: Small intestinal hemangiomas, particularly in pediatric patients, are exceptionally rare and challenging to diagnose as the cause of gastrointestinal bleeding prior to surgery. Hence, small intestinal hemangiomas should be considered in such cases. Laparoscopic surgical resection emerges as the optimal approach for addressing small intestinal hemangiomas.

OBJECTIVE: To carry out clinical and genetic analysis for an infant manifesting perianal lesions, diarrhea and multiple intestinal perforations. METHODS: Genomic DNA of the infant was extracted and subjected to targeted capture exome sequencing. Candidate variants were verified by Sanger sequencing of his family members. RESULTS: The patient was found to harbor c.301C>T and c.188+1G>A compound heterozygous variants of the IL10RA gene, which has suggested the diagnosis of IL10RA-related very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEOIBD). CONCLUSION: The patient was diagnosed with IL10RA-related VEOIBD. The newly discovered c.188+1G>A variant has enriched the spectrum of IL10RA gene variations.

RESUMO

Red phosphorus (RP) has a suitable energy band structure and excellent photocatalytic properties. However, there are some problems, such as low quantum efficiency and serious photogenerated electron-hole recombination. The S-scheme heterostructure shows great potential in facilitating the separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers and obtaining strong photo-redox ability. Herein, hydrothermally treated red phosphorus (HRP) was combined with Bi2O2CO3 to construct Bi2O2CO3/HRP S-scheme heterojunction composite. The Bi2O2CO3 content was optimized, and the 5 %Bi2O2CO3/HRP composite obtained at 5 %Bi2O2CO3 mass fraction exhibited the strongest photoreduction ability. The Cr(VI) photoreduction and photolytic hydrogen production rates were as high as 0.22 min-1 and 157.2 µmol •h-1, which were 7.3 and 3.0 times higher than those of HRP, respectively. The promoted photocatalytic activity could be attributed to the formation of S-scheme heterojunctions, which accelerated the separation and transfer of useful photogenerated electron-hole pairs, while enhancing the recombination of relatively useless photogenerated electron-hole pairs, thereby resulting in the highest photocurrent density (17.3 µA/cm2) of the 5 %Bi2O2CO3/HRP composite, which was 1.6 and 4.3 times higher than pure Bi2O2CO3 (10.5 µA/cm2) and pure HRP (4.0 µA/cm2), respectively. This work would provide an advanced approach to enhance the photocatalytic activity of RP.
